Salted Caramel Golden Dumplings.
With the nights getting colder as winter approaches why not try these sweet & salty caramel dumplings,just perfect for a cozy night in.
Believe it or not, these little treasures can be cooked in the slow cooker.
This recipe serves 4 & are super easy to make ??..
Ingredients (dumplings)
1 cup self-raising flour
2 tablespoons caster sugar
40g butter
1/4 cup milk
large pinch of sea salt flakes
vanilla ice cream to serve
custard to serve
Caramel Sauce
3/4 cups golden syrup
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
50g butter
3/4 cup thickened cream
Method
1 place lid on a slow cooker & preheat on high while you prepare the dumplings, combine flour & sugar in a bowl & using your fingers press butter in to the flour till the mix resembles coarse breadcrumbs,make a well in the center add milk & stir till mix comes together, divide into 12 portions & roll gently into balls.
2 for the caramel sauce, combine the golden syrup, sugar, butter, cream & 1/2 cup water in a saucepan over medium-low heat stirring till sugar is dissolved & sauce is smooth, bring to the boil &remove from heat.
3 pour half of the caramel sauce into the preheated slow/cooker & gently place the dumplings into the sauce, then gently pour the rest of the sauce over the dumplings & cook covered for 1 & 1/2 hours or until dumplings are cooked through.
4 to serve divide dumplings into 4 bowls sprinkle with sea salt flakes & top with ice cream & custard.
